Steve "Bluto" Schrader

Steve Clarke Jr.

The Gentle Giant.

January 16, 1962- September 16, 2005

It is known that all experiences in life make us what we are today. That the grief and pain we feel today will become part of who we are tomorrow. Steve was walking proof of that. Steve had taken all his experiences of joy, anger, misery, guilt, happiness & love and turned them into the man we came to know as Gentle Giant.

His life is something we can all strive to honor in imitation.

Yes, Steve has given us all a powerful gift. And as such, his life has powerful meaning. We thank God for Steve.

Let us all resolve to also look for the final gift that Steve left for us. The final lesson. (Well, more a reminder than a lesson.) Steve would want us to know that we must seize the moment. Do not waste a single one because there is no promise of another. We need to remember Steve’s life by telling those around us how we really feel. Not only in love but also in all the ways that life finds us. Do not let chances to do what your heart tells you is right pass by. Do not miss a single chance to love, a chance to laugh, a chance to cry, a chance to vent or that fleeting chance to forgive and love again.

Steve would tell us these are the important things in life.

Godspeed Steve. I love you and I will miss you. Thank you for visiting my life.

Bradley E. Culp

Oct. 9, 1963-July 9, 2003

What can I say about Brad? I can say he bent his knee for no man. He was, at best, difficult to understand. He lived on his own terms and he never once blamed anyone for something he did, he never shirked his own responsibilities and when things were bad, he never asked for sympathy.

He possessed the gift of never knowing a stranger. He also understood the gift of laughter and never hesitated to use that gift.

His passing was hard for those of us that knew him. He never meant it to be that way. But I know that he understood how things had to be. And that he would much rather we celebrate the memories than mourn his passing.

So Brad, I will cherish the good times and let the bad fade into the mists of time. I shall tell the stories the rest of my life. And when asked, I shall tell of how I was proud to have known and ridden with you as well.

And I will tell of days gone by, when we all laughed just a little bit more…………

Say what you will about Bluto's style. I know this; my life is forever altered by his presence here on this earth.
They say that it is not the amount of time you spend here but how you spend it that counts. That the two dates on your tombstone are immaterial, its the dash between them that matters. That dash represents how you lived. Bluto's dash is as large as all outdoors. He lived with passion and zest that most of us only dream of. As a result, he had as many detractors as admirers. And you know, he didn't seem to mind. A smile and a shrug of his big shoulders was as close to getting excited about a problem as I ever saw him.
So goodbye old friend, we shall all miss you as well as your antics. I am proud to have known you and to have ridden with you.
I must go work on my dash now...........
