Fix reason firmly in her seat and call to her tribunal every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a god because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear.
--Thomas Jefferson

I have not come here to preach. I certainly have not come here to judge. I have come here to state my opinions and leave it at that. This correspondence is as close to preaching as I care to get. (And I do not intend to sway you or convince you that I am right. For me, that very act would be fundamentally wrong.) I ask specifically that everyone follow their own path to the truth and also that the truth will not be the same for any two beings. If you have found your path and the truths it contains. I truly rejoice for you.
I am not here to condemn Christianity. Nowhere on my site are any derogatory references to Christianity. (I refer to the Statement, paragraph 3.) I do consider myself a Gnostic Christian, however I have rejected individuals and organizations that have used and abused religion for their own gains. ALL religions have used God as an excuse to do evil at some point over the last four millennia. All types of faith have used the promise of heaven or the threat of hell to control people or events. This practice continues today. (Pick up a newspaper and read the headlines.) It is so wrong and I condemn this practice, not the religions. This practice is brainwashing, pure and simple and I'll have none of it.
I do not believe that I am blocking anyone from reaching Jesus. If someone were to come to me and I thought for a second that their truth was within Christ, I would do everything I could to help them get there. I myself turned my life over to him in 1974. Everything that has happened to me since has prepared me for today, is preparing me for tomorrow and his influence in my life is intensely personal.
I am aware that there are some links to me on some biker pages in which I have been categorized as "mainstream" Christian. This was not done by me nor was it done intentionally. I consider myself as spiritual but not representing Christians as a whole. I know my views to be un-orthodox and do not try to hide them. I understand that there are some people who believe that I am a conventional, Christian preacher and then are resentful when they find I am not. It is they who have labeled me, not I. While this may seem harsh, I think they have judged me. Judging a man's life is an action reserved for God and God alone, is it not? It has been the attitude that "I'm right and you're wrong therefore you're going to hell and I'm not nah nah nah" that drove me away from mainstream Christianity. It is this attitude that will undoubtedly keep me from it. Therefore, since I wish to seek God, I must walk my own path. So, here I am. What you have seen is evidence of my own search, not an offer to show anyone else how to find him.
I have chosen to not follow another man blindly down the path to God nor have I asked anyone to follow me. Long story short, religion is a bridge to spirituality. It would seem that some get stuck on that bridge. I have also chosen to be tolerant of other's beliefs knowing that peace and love are the bread of life. It matters not to me where you get your bread, only that you have it. All I ask is that you involve God in your life. If you have done so and you stand strongly in your beliefs, do not change, friend, for you have achieved much. You have found your truth. You have an abundance of bread.

Lastly, please endeavor not to confuse my tolerance of other's beliefs for a lack of guts or an unwillingness to stand for my own convictions. I am only standing on MY conviction that forcing my own beliefs on someone else is wrong. I place my beliefs on the table. Whether you agree with them or not is your problem, not mine.

In peace,
 Rev. Mike

Addendum:

Please,do not contact me expecting to engage in deep intellectual discussions of philosophy and or theology. My mind isn’t wired that way. While I do possess certain verbal and writing skills, I am not a deep intellectual thinker. However, bring to the table wit and common sense in a more simplified form that the everyday man could understand and I’ll run with the best.

I used to ponder and fret over whether Jesus was real or myth. I wondered if the figure that I accepted as my savior in 1974 was a ruse. I’ve come to realize that it matters not if he is real or imagined because the lessons associated with him are real. While I had doubts as to the validity of whom I accepted, there is no doubt as to what I accepted that day. While the arguments of real vs. myth rage on, I will continue to endeavor to live the life taught and not worry about the rest. To this end I have also learned that the lessons of Jesus are found beyond the Bible as well. (i.e. the Nag Hammadi library. ) I’ve found much inner peace and personal satisfaction in expanding my horizons. I look for my answers beyond the accepted norm. If this makes me a rebel then I am a fine one indeed.

I sincerely hope I do not sound as if I am proselytising. Every influence that brought me to these conclusions is available for anyone to find and examine. I would ask only that you seek these things yourself. Examine every debate, weigh every argument, study every belief, read every theory and see what speaks to you. The internet has brought us a greater wealth of knowledge and understanding of all things (including things of the spiritual) than ever before in human history. We needn’t depend on what we are told any longer. We have greater intellectual freedom than any generation before us.

Use it to free yourself.
