Road Trip '03  :(click on image to see larger photo)

In June, 2003, the Reverend took a week long road trip from Indiana up to Port Huron, into Ontario Canada, then north along the Eastern shores of Lake Huron to Tobermory. From there he took the ferry "Chi-Cheemaun" to Manitoulin Island to spend a few days fishing and relaxing with family at Mindemoya. From there he went north and west along the North Channel  to Sault St. Marie and south to cross the famed Mackinac Bridge (a real treat with high winds and rain....) and southward home.

This year I did it again. This year the weather was quite uncooperative. Very windy and not so warm.Took the same route up but since the Chi-Cheemaun was still on the spring schedule, I had to spend the night at Tobermory. Caught the first crossing to Manitoulin Sunday morning. While on the island, my father and I tried to do some walleye fishing but the weather still didn't cooperate. (Couldn't get a fish to bite but what the hey, I wasn't at work either!). After looking over several weather forecasts, (I coulda been a weather man, you obviously don't have to know anything....) I decided there was no good day to return so I took off for Sault Ste. Marie. Wind, hail, (yeah, hail)  rain, wind, cold, sun, clouds...(This is June, right?) Crossing the Mackinac Bridge was the hardest  five miles of riding I have ever done, period. ( Due mostly to the hardest crosswinds I've ever been in on two wheels. )

What a challenge it was. But what a memorable trip..........
